Tipperary County Council has launched free e-bike battery charging facilities as part of the ongoing Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) Carrick-on-Suir Regeneration Plan and works in Carrick-on-Suir. Officially launched on 25 June 2026, the new facilities are located at Castle Street and support sustainable travel and active transport within the town. More e-bike chargers will be activated in Sean Healy Park in the coming weeks.
The initiative forms part of Tipperary County Council's commitment to creating a more sustainable and environmentally friendly town centre. By supporting greater use of e-bikes, the project helps reduce car dependency, lower transport-related carbon emissions, improve local air quality, and encourage healthier travel choices for residents and visitors.
The charging points are available free of charge to e-bike users. To access the facilities, users can obtain a key from any of the following locations:
•    Ormond Castle, Castle Park, Carrick-on-Suir, E32 CX59 – Castle Street Chargers Only
•    O'K Cycles, New Street, Carrick-on-Suir, E32 WK07

Tipperary County Council acknowledges the support of the local businesses and organisations that have agreed to act as keyholders for the charging facilities. Their involvement is helping to make sustainable travel more accessible and convenient for residents and visitors while strengthening community support for climate action and active travel initiatives.
Tipperary County Council would also like to express its sincere appreciation to Heath Gleeson O'Leary of Print3DbyH for designing and producing the bespoke keyrings for the project.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to make use of the new facilities and enjoy a cleaner, greener and more sustainable way to travel around Carrick-on-Suir and the surrounding area.
